Hattie Faye McCulley, 99, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 16, 2017.

Her ashes will be interred at Restland Cemetary in Roxton, Texas.

She was born in Brookston, Texas, on Jan. 21, 1918, to Bose and Ova McEntyre. Hattie Faye spent her childhood in and around Brookston and Roxton, Texas, where she attended school. She married Raymond McCulley in 1937. Soon afterwards, he served in the Navy during World War II, and she followed him first to San Diego, California, and then to Providence, Rhode Island, during his military career. After the war, they settled in Roxton for twenty two-years. Later, they moved to nearby Paris, Texas. Afterward, they retired to Fort Worth, Texas, and then finally moved to Alvarado, Texas, to be near their daughter, Cathy Tindall.

An exceptionally talented gardener, Hattie Faye loved nature of all types. She loved flowers, and she loved life. Her greatest joy in life was the births of her son, Charles Raymond, and her daughter, Cathy Ann. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was active in many church activities, including teaching, hospitality, and caring for elderly members. She never met a stranger. Finally at rest, she will carry on with the joy, love, and true expertise for gardening in God’s beautiful garden.

Hattie Faye was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, George Raymond McCulley.

Survivors include her son, Charles McCulley and wife, Peggy, of Arlington; daughter, Cathy Tindall, of Alvarado; sister, Helen Merritt, of Paris; grandchildren, Andy Tindall, Emily Burke and Monty McCulley; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Wade Family Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. 817-274-0233
