David Wilburn Sharp, 92, of Burleson, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, in Edmond, Okla.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home in Burleson, Texas. Military funeral honors and interment were performed at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 Interstate 35 S., Robinson, Texas.

David was born in Waco, Texas, on Feb. 25, 1925. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war he earned a BS degree from Texas A&M College in accounting and a regular commission in the U.S. Air Force in May of 1949. He retired to Burleson after 30 years active duty as a lieutenant colonel, USAF on July 31, 1976. After retiring to Burleson, he worked at Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation for 11 years as a senior contracts administrator. He retired in July 31, 1991.He always enjoyed beekeeping and was known locally as the "honey man" after his hand painted road signs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer D. and Lois B. Sharp; and a brother, Wayland Sharp.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, June Oliver; a sister, Mary Leigh, of The Woodlands; one son, Colonel (ret.) Brett Sharp and wife, Paula; three daughters, Suellen DeMay and husband, Brian, of Palatine, Il.; Meghan Sharp and husband, Lin Chen, of San Francisco, Calif.; Elspeth Sharp, and Chris Moore, of Austin; and six grandchildren, Jack DeMay, Mason DeMay, Noah Sharp, Rachel Sharp, Katherine Chen and Samantha Chen.
