Selma Wayne Goodnight was born in Mississippi on June 10, 1932, and he passed away in Huguley Hospital on Sept. 19, 2017 from complications of pneumonia.
His memorial will be held between 3:00 and 5:00, Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, on the front lawn at the farm, 5000 County Road 711, Cleburne Texas 76031, just west of I35.
Selma picked cotton until he was 18 years old. He came to Texas in 1950, went to work for Consolidated Aircraft Corp. and worked for them for 11 years. During this time, he met and married Mamie Francis Spivey and they had one child, Larry Wayne Goodnight.
He went to work for Bell Helicopter in 1961 and retired in 1992, when he and Mamie Francis took up raising cattle for the next 25 years.
On March 20, 2013, Selma was preceded in death by Mamie. He remarried a year and half later on Nov. 29, 2014, to Janice Patricia OQuinn.
Selma made hundreds of friends and was quick to offer a helping hand when it was needed. He loved joking around and gave everyone a nick name. Selma was very much loved by friends and family and is very much missed.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; his son, Larry Wayne; his brother, Lawrence; and multiple nieces and nephews.
