Carolyn was born September 22, 1942, in Marlin, Texas, to Pauline and J. Lyndal Hughes.
She is a 1961 National Honor Society graduate of Burleson High School, in Texas, where she participated in band and was a majorette. After graduating, Carolyn worked over 20 years for A. Brandt Company, Inc. Furniture Manufacturing, in Fort Worth, Texas, before relocating to Houston in 1976 with her family so that her husband could start his new job.

Hill; her daughter, Kimberly Parnell and son-in-law, Wayne, of Richmond, Texas, and her son, David Hill and daughter-in-law, Jennifer, along with twin granddaughters, Jena and Sofia, of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Carolyn had many joys and passions. Her love of animals started with her first horse, Lady, when she a young girl. She also loved dogs dearly and almost always had at least one as a companion. Carolyn was very creative and loved to use her hands to bake, cook, quilt and knit.
Exploring was a favorite pastime she shared with the love of her life. She and Kenneth traveled all over together. They went to Europe, South America, took cruises in Alaska and the Caribbean to name a few. Their joint love of the outdoors took them on great adventures in their RV all over the United States. One of Carolyn's favorite accomplishments was the lake house that she and Kenneth built almost entirely by themselves. That lake house in Lake Livingston, Texas, was a place where they could gather with family and friends.
Carolyn is one of five children. She has one sister, Nita Marbach and late husband, Carl, of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Lynn Hughes and wife, Mary, of Lewisville, Texas, late brother, Larry Hughes and wife, Glenda, of Gatesville, Texas, and Ron Hughes and wife, Charlette, of Euless, Texas.
