In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the North Pointe Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry, 2450 Southwest Wilshire Blvd., Burleson, Texas 76028.
Gerry was born May 22, 1930 in Whitharral, Texas, to Edd and Lula Langford. He married Maxine Muller on April 23, 1954, in Levelland, Texas. They were lifelong residents of Lamb County. In 1961, they made their home together in the Hart Camp Community, where he was a farmer for over 40 years.
Mr. Langford served on the Gin Board at Hart Camp and Spade Co-Op Gin for many years. He was a wonderful farmer, and a great mentor and advisor to those new to the profession.
In 2012, they moved to Joshua, Texas, to be nearer to their family. Gerry was a strong, quiet man, until you least expected, and then a man with a dry wit. He was steadfast in his love and care for his wife, Maxine, his only daughter, Kathy and her husband, Randy, and his children and grandchildren.
Very independent and active, Gerry often walked five miles a day to stay healthy. He was a member of the United States Army, serving in Okinawa, Japan. Gerry and his wife were members of Fieldton Baptist Church before it disbanded, then transferred to Olton Baptist Church. After they relocated to Joshua, they attended NorthPointe Baptist Church.
Waiting for him in Heaven, was his loving wife of 58 years, Maxine Langford, who passed away Feb. 15, 2013; his mother, Lula Langford; father, Edd Langford and step-mother, Ima Langford; four sisters, Christine Langford, Laverne Setser, Betty Frazier and Nona Masters; and two brothers, Sam Langford and Wayne Lewis.
Survivors include his only child, Kathy Langford Scott and her husband, Randy, of Joshua; three grandchildren, Ryan Scott and wife, Emily, Kendall Jones and husband, Brad, and Kylie Scott, all of Burleson; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hillary Scott, and Hadley, Laurel, and Cullen Jones, all of Burleson; a sister, Roberta “Bill” Thomman of Levelland; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield. 806-385-0347
