Dolly Janice Spells, 84, of Keene, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017.
A family graveside service is Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Keene Memorial Cemetery, with Chaplain Larry Schneider officiating.
The memorial service is 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, in the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Visitation is from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Rosser Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to the Dolly Spells Memorial benefitting the Nursing Program at Southwestern Adventist University. Please send donations to the Advancement Center, 100 W. Hillcrest Street, Keene, TX 76059.
Mrs. Spells was born in Henderson, Texas, on Sept. 5, 1932, to Ruby Lee (Johnson) and Raleigh Black. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh and Ruby Lee Black; and her husband, Henry David Spells, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Kay Foster and husband, Rob, of Keene; son, Henry David Spells III and wife, Kim, of Sachse, Texas; brother, Billy Ray Black and wife, Patsy, of Tyler; sister, Betty Ann Heinrich and husband, Gary, of Keene; grandchildren, Meagan Dutton and husband, Sean, Ethan Foster, Chelsea Foster, Henry David Spells IV and Gabrielle Spells; and great-grandchildren, Kamryn Dutton and Beckett Dutton.
