onna Self Meester went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018.
Her memorial service 1:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Normandale Baptist Church.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the ALS Foundation.Donna was born Oct. 31, 1952, in Shawnee, Okla. Her family moved to White Settlement, Texas, in 1958, where she attended White Settlement schools, graduating in 1971. She married the love of her life, Stephen Meester, on May 2, 1981, and they made their home in Burleson. Donna was the oldest of four siblings who selflessly took on the role of the family matriarch after the passing of their father in 2008. With her devoted husband by her side, she fought a courageous two year battle with a hideous disease with grace & dignity. Our hearts are heavy, but we take comfort knowing that she is at peace. Donna was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and nana who will be dearly missed.She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin “Pete” Self.Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Stephen Meester; son, Brian Wayne Parkhill Jr. and wife, Sandra; mother, Mary Jo Self; grandchildren, Brian Wayne Parkhill Jr. and Nikki, Wyatt Nicholas Parkhill and wife, Norma; Garrett Lee Parkhill; and Clare Evonne Parkhill; great-grandchildren, Ava Peyton Parkhill and Easton Cole Parkhill; brother, Mel Self and wife, Connie; sister, Cheryl Pierce and husband, Duane; sister, Terrie Blevins and husband, Tommy; and numerous nieces and nephews.Lucas and Blessing, in Burleson, is handling the arrangements. 817-295-9000
